My daughter was born on May 11th, 2013, since then, I have shot countless photos of her and of our new family. This particular photo stands out above the rest because, here, our girl is only a few days old, resting her eyes in my childhood bedroom with my husband. We moved into my parents house while preparing for and renovating our first home in January. Being 30 and moving back home was a unique experience but one that I feel lucky to have had. I am grateful for our time there and all my parents did to support us during those months and beyond. While our due date was approaching, we came to realize that depending on the baby's arrival we would be staying at my parents with our new addition; the house wouldn't be ready in time. We were so concerned with the prolonged stay at my parents, bringing a newborn to their home and how that would affect their lives. It turned out to be an amazing blessing and I cherish our extended stay. Sometimes the anticipation of a challenge is actually worse than having to over come it. My parents offered an invaluable foundation in those early weeks and as new parents, we were able to learn from the best. The story behind this photo has added meaning from its subjects, and that is why this is my favorite photo of 2013.
